Cyber Monday 2011 : It’s ok, you don’t need your pepper spray!!
Why it’s all about Cyber Monday?
This year Black Friday created a crazed buzz in the US stores on Friday 25th November! One lady dubbed the ‘Queen of the Electronic Aisles’ used her pepper spray to fight off fellow shoppers at Walmart, who stood in her way of an electronic bargain (see cnet ).
The thing is, that although Black Friday sends people into shopaholic mode, the affects of Black Friday in terms of its impact on sales is not nearly as effective as Cyber Monday. Cyber Monday has now topped the chart in terms of sales. The frustration of shopping in store during a sale may well be why.
Profitero, an Irishbased pricing intelligence company says that ‘the need for Irish retailers to merge their store-based business with an online presence has never been more pressing than now’(see silicon republic ).
International impact
Cyber Monday is now creating a global impact in terms of sales. The US experienced a 22% increase from last year’s Cyber Monday, reaching $1.25 billion in online sales. It now stands to be the second US billion dollar shopping day in history (see Search Engine Watch).Visa Europe analysed that the UK would spend £303 million online last Monday (see visa cardholders in the uk). These are just two figures that reflect the outrageous spending that occurs on this day.
Be prepared for the Irish Christmas Shoppers!
Were you one of the Irish shoppers that contributed to the online splurge last Monday? According to Visa’s figures Irish shoppers will spend an average of €155 over the coming weeks ( see The Daily Business Post news).
Christmas is coming and online shopping is now an option for consumers, encouraging impulse buys with such easy accessibility to store products? The increase in online stores has directed increased business to Bang ecommerce, our ecommerce solution that provides the online customer with a simple and enjoyable purchasing route. Shopping baskets online are becoming loaded with Christmas gifts which is why ‘The Denobi group’ have spent some time encouraging their clients to give their websites that Christmas feel? Have you done this with your website? Are you prepared for the increase in online shopping this year? Cyber Monday was predicted to generate 4,800 transactions per minute. This highlights the emphasis now placed on the online world. It is expected to have an impact on online sales over Christmas, sparking the start of an online purchasing trend which will continue over the holiday. Increased traffic will be generated for those company websites that secure the best offers. Online shopping is now a way of life for ‘mindless consumers’ such as those frantically purchasing last Monday. Everyone wants to get the best deals. Get involved with the buzz and don’t become the ‘pepper sprayed shopper’!!
Happy Christmas from ‘The Denobi group’.
